In the autumn many of you will start with the Solar System and here’s how to make it. From You to Me books give children the opportunity to build a sense of self and would be easy to incorporate in to your setting. Have a look at their website to get an idea of the questions used and then make your own. We all are guilty of cutting up books to make materials but before you do have a look a the back of the book and note down any web address because you might get lucky and find loads of free stuff on their site as we did when we was looking for culture pictures & info on Facts for Projects website.

We live on an island surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Irish Sea with plenty of beaches, strands and sealife to get to know and bring into the classroom so these pictures and information about the Irish Seashore will come in handy as will these from Sherkin Island Children’s Corner. We all know projects go much smoother when we’ve done the groundwork first so gathering a basic creativity kit is a step in the right direction and will ensure you can all get creative without having to worry. The Imagination Tree have some ideas you may like to use in your Practical Life & Sensorial areas.

Pipe cleaners are a staple of any Early Years setting and Learning 4 Kids have created pipe cleaner mazes. And how about creating a gardening area within the classroom as Rubber Boots and Elf Shoes have done. My Random Stuff have photographs you might like to use to create materials for your setting.
